I am ridiculously excited to finally announce a new Improv Therapy Group launching in Spryfield, Nova Scotia, February 2026. This group is designed for folks who want to explore creativity, connection, and emotional resilience through the playful lens of improvisation.
🌟 What Is Improv Therapy?
Improv therapy blends the spontaneity of improvisational theatre with trauma-informed therapeutic practices. Participants engage in games, storytelling, and collaborative exercises that encourage:
Self-expression without judgment
Building confidence in communication and social interaction
Stress relief through laughter and play
Community connection in a supportive environment
🧩 Who Is It For?
This group welcomes adults of all backgrounds, especially those who:
Are curious about creative approaches to therapy
Want to strengthen social and emotional skills
Are looking for an affirming space
Are looking for a gentle, fun way to explore healing
No performance experience is required, just a willingness to play and explore.
🗓️ Group Details
Location: Spryfield, NS
Start Date: February 2026
Facilitator: Shannon Hardy- they/them- queer, neurodivergent, non-binary registered social worker, certified geek therapist, improv therapist
Format: 4 weekly sessions combining improv games, group reflection, and therapeutic exercises. Two session options are available, one group will meet on Thursday evenings (6-7:30pm) and one group will meet on Saturday mid-day (11am-12:30pm).
The cost for the full 4 week group is $200. I can direct bill to Blue Cross, Greenshield and CanadaLife or a can accept etransfers or credit card payments.
